Activate two-factor authentication (2FA)

At Perfony, the security of your access and information is a priority. To strengthen the protection of your account, you can activate two-factor authentication, also known as 2FA.

 

Why activate two-factor authentication?

Even with a strong password, there is a risk of compromise.
2FA adds an additional security step:

  1. Enter your usual password
  2. You enter a unique code generated by your phone

This code, which changes every 30 seconds, can only be accessed via an authentication application such as:

  • Google Authenticator
  • Microsoft Authenticator
  • FreeOTP+

This drastically reduces the risk of unauthorised access to your account.

Please note: 2FA does not apply if you use an SSO (Single Sign-On) login system.

Set up two-factor authentication for your organisation

Only the administrator of the Perfony account can activate or deactivate 2FA at a global level.

Go to Company settings > Security block.

Two options are available:

  • 🔓 Optional: each user is free to choose whether or not to activate 2FA
  • 🔒 Mandatory: all users will have to activate 2FA

In case of mandatory activation: The administrator defines a time limit (in days).

  • Before the deadline: a banner appears inviting users to activate 2FA
  • After the deadline: the user is automatically redirected to the activation page and will no longer be able to access Perfony without having configured it.

Activate 2FA as a user

Whether 2FA is mandatory or optional, here is the procedure to activate it:

  1. Go to the ‘Authentication’ page in your settings
  2. Tick the option ‘Activate multi-factor authentication’.
  3. Scan the QR code displayed on the screen with one of the applications mentioned above
  4. The application generates a 6-digit code
  5. Enter this code in Perfony to validate the activation

If you leave the page without entering the code, the procedure will be cancelled and 2FA will not be activated.

Connection with double authentication

On the web application:

  1. Enter your password
  2. Then enter the 6-digit code generated by your mobile app

On the Perfony mobile app:

Same procedure: password + temporary code.

If you get stuck with 2FA

If you lose access to your authentication application or encounter a problem:

  • 👉 Contact your administrator
  • Or write to Perfony support

The administrator can reset the two-factor authentication from the ‘Users’ menu by clicking on ‘Reset two-factor authentication’. You will then be able to log in again and reconfigure the 2FA.
